How to export your private key

Because Verve wallets are non-custodial, you can back up the private key of any wallet and use it elsewhere. The key is shown to you in a secure form after a Security Check.

Why export a key

  • To keep your own backup, independent of any service.
  • To use the same wallet in another compatible wallet app.
  • To prove to yourself that you control the funds.

The steps

Keys are held in secure infrastructure provided by Turnkey. The export form is rendered by that infrastructure, so the key is revealed to you rather than passing through Verve's own pages.

  1. Open the wallet. Go to the Wallets tab and choose the wallet you want to back up.
  2. Choose Export private key. Select the export option for that wallet. A dialog explains that anyone with the key can access the wallet.
  3. Pass the Security Check. Confirm it is you with the emailed code or your passkey. Verve never receives your key.
  4. Record the key offline. Copy or write down the key from the secure form, store it somewhere only you can reach, then close the window.

Storing the key safely

  • Write it down or use an offline password manager. Do not keep it in screenshots, email or cloud notes.
  • Never type it into a website or send it to anyone, including anyone claiming to be support. Verve will never ask for it.
  • Anyone with the key controls the wallet. If you think it was seen, move funds to a new wallet.

Availability

Export can be paused by the current release policy; in that case the app says so and sends no request. Verve cannot recover a key for you.
