What are gas fees?
Gas is the fee a blockchain charges to process your transaction. It is paid to the network, not to Verve, and it is paid in the chain's own asset, so you need a little of that asset in a wallet before you can trade.

What gas pays for
Every trade, send or approval uses network resources. Gas compensates the validators who include the transaction. The amount depends on how busy the network is and how complex the transaction is.
Which asset pays gas on each chain
Arc is special: USDC is the native gas asset, and Verve lists that one USDC balance once rather than twice.
| Chain | Native asset | Typical stablecoins on Verve |
|---|---|---|
| Solana | SOL | USDC, USDT |
| BNB Chain | BNB | USDT, USDC |
| Ethereum | ETH | USDC, USDT |
| Base | ETH | USDC, USDT |
| Robinhood Chain | ETH | USDG |
| Monad | MON | USDC |
| TON | TON | USDT |
| Arc | USDC (the native gas asset) | USDC |
| HyperEVM | HYPE | USDC, USDT0 |
Practical points
- Keep a small balance of the native asset on every chain you trade on.
- A failed transaction can still spend gas, for example when slippage is exceeded.
- Verve shows network fees at review time, so you see them before you confirm.
Does Verve take gas fees?
No. Gas goes to the blockchain. Verve's own fees are listed on the fees page.
Why does gas change?
It depends on network demand and on the complexity of your transaction.
